GMO Internet Group differentiates Prime Strategy’s shared hosting service with WEXAL

Prime Strategy Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, “Prime Strategy”) announced the release of the first Japanese case study of installing WEXAL on a shared hosting server by GMO Internet Group, Inc. (hereinafter, ” GMO Internet Group”).

GMO Internet Group offers “WEXAL” on their shared servers, enabling next-generation acceleration for multiple client sites

– First class service, second to none! –

Shared hosting servers in Japan were competing with similar specifications and service offerings, making differentiation difficult.

GMO Internet Group was looking for a front-end acceleration solution to achieve higher speeds.

GMO Internet Group wanted to contribute to customers’ businesses by providing standard features that go into optimizing content and improving user experience, features that would increase new subscriptions and retention rates.

Therefore, GMO Internet Group has partnered with Prime Strategy to implement WEXAL into their service.

And GMO Internet Group was able to provide many of their customers with a simple one-click throttle feature. This made them the first Japanese shared web hosting service to adopt WEXAL and they gained a new core competency.

As a result, the number of subscriptions to their service has increased and the retention rate has also improved.

Comment from Fumito Aikawa, Executive Director, ConoHa Business Department, GMO Internet Group, Inc.:

We released ConoHa WING in 2018 and it is the fastest* shared web hosting in Japan.

We wanted to make things “faster and easier” as many of our customers use the system for their blogs and corporate websites.

This is because more and more people are creating websites for the first time as part of their side businesses or companies, and there is a need to provide a service with SEO measures and faster viewing speeds from the moment the site is launched, even without specialists knowledge.

In terms of infrastructure, we have been striving for high speed since the service was released. However, we needed to find the best solution to improve front-end performance, as there were challenges in this area.

We contacted Prime Strategy., which supplies their KUSANAGI virtual machine, to find the best solution. We have introduced WEXAL as a standard feature in our service, which was previously difficult to use on shared servers. We have successfully boosted the website speed of many customers by providing a feature that can be enabled with one click. Therefore, we have contributed to the services of the Internet sector with this new feature.
